In Memoriam

Today being Memorial Day and all, we went to the San Francisco National Cemetery at the Presidio. While we weren’t exactly a day late or a dollar short, we were two hours late for the parade and ceremony. Total bummer. I hadn’t researched it, but figured things (if "things" were happening) would kick off around noon. So we got there at 11:45. It started at 10. Still, it was very neat to see the all the flags and the folks leaving what I suppose was a very moving, touching, and ceremonious celebration for those who lost their lives defending our freedom. We talked to a Marine for a moment in the parking lot, and he was a cool guy…

MAKE my day

Today, we completely geeked out. A magazine called “Make”, hosted an event called Maker Faire in San Mateo. It was extreme overload on the engineering and science side, but I loved the craft pavilions! Keith decided I’m a “creek” a craft-geek. Here are some shots of what we saw.

And this isn’t a very good shot, but they had these huge tesla coils, when turned on were incredibly loud and threw giant streams of energy to each other. Or something like that. Not quite sure how to describe the science of it, but all the geeks in the room were cheering. That kind of creeped me out, I mean it was neat, but worth-cheering-neat? Not to me.
